20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Mini Sub Shooting Miniature.

The mini sub carried by the Abraham Lincoln and used to board the Nautilus.

These mini subs were built to fit the Abraham Lincoln ship model.

They had to match the full size prop and so we had drawings to follow but lagged the actual build so we could match the textures and colours accurately.

I started with profiles mounted on a central shaft then covered it in plastic strip and car putty.

This shape was then etched to represent the wood panels with added plastic sheet for the plating.

Small pins were used for the rivets. This was then moulded and the final castings done in urethane resin.

They were all painted to match the full size set piece. These were only ever seen on the ship model.
